  The Republic of Macedonia has natural resources which enable the development of organic production as an ecological production management system.

Organic production provides maintenance and improvement of the environment and health of the people, as well as enabling greater economic prosperity of the regions in which it is practiced. As part of sustainable agriculture, organic farming uses work methods and procedures that optimize land productivity, and at the same time minimize the harmful effects on soil, water, air and health on producers and consumers.

The production of organic food is a natural way, without using of pesticides, artificial fertilizers, growth hormones, preservatives, artificial additives, artificial colors and GMOs (genetically modified organisms).

Over the past few years, due to a higher financial support of the state, organic farming has repeatedly increased its capacities. The sale of organic products mainly takes place on the farms. Beneficial is the fact that for the past years some organic products are available to consumers in the big markets. Organic products, as value-added products for safety and quality, are selling at prices higher than conventional products as shown below:
