Purchasing of Easter Lambs in 2013

In accordance with the requirements of the lambs markets, purchasers of lambs and slaughterhouses are planning and organizing the purchase of lambs for each season during the year, while particular market emphasis is given for Easter holidays. Purchased lambs before Easter holidays are primarily for export. The purchase price of lambs is formed according to market principles and depends primarily on the demand for lambs before and during Easter holidays. Most demanded are lambs with live-weights from 15 to 19 kg.

This festive season for Easter the purchase prices of lamb per kilogram live-weight were achieved according to the classes of purchasers as follows: the first class of 145 to 170 denars/kg, for a second class of 135 to 150 denars/kg and for a third class of 130 to 140 denars/kg.
